messy bun hat crochet pattern






 Hey there!!! I have a new pattern ready to go! This messy bun Crochet hat pattern works up rather quick, and in my opinion makes for great summer crochet because it's small, it's portable, and it's fast. Also you can make up a bunch of them just in time for "ahem" Christmas, or those wonderful fall Craft shows that will be here before we know it!!! 

I made these with 2 different yarns just to see what it would look like in different colors. I was not disappointed by either of my yarn choices. The first one is Light Gray by I love this Yarn from Hobby Lobby. The second one was Claret by Loops & Threads Impeccable Acrylic, from Michael's. I really enjoyed working with both yarns because they were so soft, and pulled through nicely. 


So here we go, you will need 1 skein of ww yarn 

an H hook

hair tie 

*Notes* Do not turn unless directed to do so


1) sc around hair tie 25 times and join with a sl st

2) ch 1 *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next* repeat around, join with a sl st -39 sc

3) ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st

4) ch 1, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat around, join with a sl st - 52 sc

5) ch 2, hdc in each sc around - 52 hdc

6) ch 2, *hdc in next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc* repeat around to last 3 hdc, hdc in last 3 hdc join with sl st - 59 hdc

7) ch 2, hdc in each hdc around - 59 hdc

8) ch 1, *sc in next 10 hdc, 2 sc in next hdc* repeat to last 4 hdc, sc in last 4 hdc, join with sl st - 64 sc

9) ch 2, hdc in each sc around, join with sl st - 64 hdc

10) ch 2, *dc in first 2 hdc, fpdc around next 2 hdc* repeat around, join with sl st. 64 st

11-21) ch 2, *dc in each dc, fpdc around each fpdc* repeat around, join with sl st

22)ch 2 TURN hdc in each st around, join with sl st -64 hdc

23) ch 1, TURN sc in each hdc around. Finish off and weave in ends

Here we go! I was almost done with these 2 patterns when I wrote the first intro blog post this morning. However I was still working on my first cups of coffee for the day, and well, as you know, some of us just don't function without our coffee, and I didn't want to jam my crochet hook into anyones eye!!! Sunday updates with recipe

  Good Morning and I suppose Happy Sunday. I have never really been able to figure out if Sunday's are the end of the week, or the beginning. Either way, I love a nice slow Sunday, especially if it's been a crazy week.   I enjoy doing this Sunday blog update post, because it lets me share a bit about what's going on here, and I can spend the rest of the week concentrating on picking my weekly shared recipe, and of course designing the crochet patterns that I share with you all.  This week hasn't been horrible, not great, but not horrible. Poor Mishka had to go to the vet on Tuesday for a wicked eye infection. The same eye that she had to have a biopsy on about a month ago now. However with all of the meds they put her on, it's clearing up beautifully.  We lost a good portion of the garden. I love gnomes. I'm going to be honest, it's kind of a recent obsession for me. I'm not sure what it is about them that I love so much, but I find them to be whimsical and fun.
